Campus Corner: Crowe earns all-conference honors for Susquehanna

State College graduate Paul Crowe earned second team All-Landmark Conference honors at the conference championship meet recently while running for Susquehanna University.

Crowe, a sophomore, placed ninth in a time of 27 minutes, 18.60 seconds. The top eight finishers earn first-team honors.

Crowe’s younger brother, John, a freshman, just missed second-team honors as well, placing 15th (second team honors go to the runners who placed ninth through 14th) in 27:53.80. Susquehanna finished second in the team race.

Football

Terna Ityokumbul (State College, Bucknell) saw playing time in the team’s 27-24 win over Fordham. Bucknell is now 2-7.

Shane Dorner (State College, Lafayette) has nine solo tackles and 18 assists, 5 1/2 sacks and tackles for loss for minus-18 yards, one pass breakup and one pass defended. Lafayette is 5-4.

Coleman Rigg, (Bellefonte, Juniata) has two catches for 30 yards.

Colton Myers (State College, Juniata) has 13 catches for 157 yards. Juniata is 3-6.

Michael John (Philipsburg-Osceola, Juniata) has carried the ball 16 times for 47 yards, caught seven passes for 106 yards and returned 25 kicks for 465 yards.

Shay Ceglar (State College, Shippensburg) is the team’s long snapper.

Kurt Walker (P-O, Shippensburg) has two solo tackles and two assists. Shippensburg is 10-0 and will play IUP on Saturday for the PSAC championship. IUP held off Gannon last Saturday thanks to a pair of interceptions by Tyrone graduate Johnny Franco. Both of his picks came in the final 1:19, the last on the last play of the game to seal a 38-35 win over Gannon.

Logan Belinda (State College, Westminster) has four receptions for 46 yards and two assisted tackles. Westminster is 3-5.

Colby Way (State College, Buffalo) has 23 solo tackles and 17 assists, 7 1/2 tackles for loss for minus-20 yards, 4 1/2 sacks for minus-12 yards, one pass breakup and one pass defended. Buffalo is 2-7.

Rob Irwin (Bellefonte, Clarion) has seven catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Clarion is 4-6.

Ian Smith (State College, Kutztown) was idle last week since Kutztown’s game with LIU-Post was postponed to Nov. 17 due to Hurricane Sandy.

Bernard Smack (State College, Lock Haven) has carried the ball twice for 11 yards, caught 11 passes for 44 yards and returned 28 kicks for 623 yards. Lock Haven is 0-10.

Zach Czap (P-O, Lycoming) kicked two field goals and two PATs last weekend and downed 2 of 5 punts inside the 20 to make the MAC Honor Roll. For the year he has made 6 of 11 field goals and 26 of 31 PATs. Lycoming is 7-2.

Sam Rodgers (State College, Syracuse) has two assisted tackles and is the long snapper. Syracuse is 4-5.

Mike Horton (P-O, Edinboro) returned to action at left guard against Clarion. Edinboro is now 4-5.

Emmitt Terrel (State College, Cornell) has nine solo tackles and eight assists. Cornell is 4-4.

Reid Vanderlinden (State College, Johns Hopkins) has one assisted tackle in seven games. Johns Hopkins lost to Franklin and Marshall 14-12 on Saturday to drop to 8-1.

Jereme Murray (State College, Holy Cross) has nine catches for 119 yards. Holy Cross is 1-8.

Garrett Nicholson (State College, Ithaca) has made 4 of 5 field goal attempts and all 22 PAT kicks. Ithaca is 6-3.

Soccer

Andy Blunk (State College, Juniata) finished with a goal and an assist. Juniata closed at 9-9.

Anthony Glossner (Penns Valley, Juniata) had two assists for the season.

Sydney Masters (Bellefonte, Juniata) had a goal and two assists. Juniata finished 9-7-1.

Ally Reid (State College, F&M) had one assist for the season. F&M was 2-7-6.

David Trunzo (State College, St. Francis) had one assist. St. Francis is 6-7-5 and qualified for the NEC playoffs.

Izabel Scott (State College, Slippery Rock) started on defense and played every minute of the conference playoffs which concluded with Slippery Rock beating California of Pa. 3-0 in the title game. It was Slippery Rock’s first title since 2005. SRU advances to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Megan Porter (State College, Geneva) played in 17 games for Geneva, which finished at 6-12-1.

Cory Neiderer (Penns Valley, PSU-Behrend) has played in 11 games on defense. Behrend is 16-4 and waiting to see if it receives a postseason bid.

Katie Deardorff (Penns Valley, Lebanon Valley) finished the season in which she played in all 19 games. Lebanon Valley finished 11-7-1.

Kathryn Ritter (P-O, Lancaster Bible College) has five goals and three assists. Lancaster Bible is 17-4 and won the NEAC to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

Kathleen Warner (State College, Clarion) had one goal this season.

Liz Ventura (Penns Valley, Clarion) had two assists. Clarion finished at 2-10-5.

Dieter Bahr (State College, Delaware) has played in four games. Delaware is 4-11-4.

Tyler Kiser (State College, Geneva) had two goals in seven games. Geneva finished with a record of 10-6-3.

Devyn Lee (State College, Case Western) was team co-captain started the first six games of her senior year before suffering a season-ending injury. Case finished with a record of 8-6-4.

Volleyball

Lauren Hester (State College, IUP) had 203 kills, nine assists, 49 aces, 146 digs and 27 blocks. IUP finished 20-13.

Elizabeth Horner (State College, Penn) has 13 kills, nine assists, 23 digs, six blocks and 14 aces. Penn is 13-10.

Kayla Confer (Bald Eagle Area, Lebanon Valley) has 165 kills, two assists, three aces, 38 digs and eight blocks. Lebanon Valley is 19-14.

Alaina Del Real (State College, American U.) has one kill. American is 16-9.

Alexandra Fleagle (State College, Slippery Rock) had 12 assists and an ace in a 3-0 loss to IUP. Slippery Rock is 14-17 and finishes its season Saturday at Edinboro.

Megan Flick (BEA, Lock Haven) has five kills, an ace and three digs for Lock Haven, which is 22-9 and will go into the PSAC East playoffs as the top seed.

Kendra Fetzer (BEA, Lock Haven) has eight kills, 17 assists, nine digs and a block.

Field hockey

Mikaela Sloan (State College, Juniata) has taken 12 shots in 17 games. Juniata is 9-9 and awaiting word on its chances for a playoff berth.

Tia Dudukovich (State College, St. Francis) finished the year with three goals and 10 assists for 16 points. St. Francis finished 12-6

Tori Patrick (State College, Washington & Jefferson) had five goals and six assists for 16 points. W&J wound up with an 11-8 record.

Brenna Boehman (State College, Haverford) had a goal and two assists for Haverford, which is 14-5 and hoping for an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs.

Cross country

Matt Brooker (Penns Valley, Cedarville) won the NCAA Division II regional race with a time of 30:35 over 10,000 meters. He beat the second-place finisher by 38 seconds. As a team, Cedarville placed fourth to earn a trip to the NCAA meet on Nov. 17.

Swimming

Jenny Ryan (State College, Grove City) was on the winning 200-meter freestyle relay team against Allegheny that finished in 1:40.28. She also swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay team in the Clarion Classic. It posted a time of 3:42.78. Grove City is 2-0.

Marie Gingher (State College, Gettysburg) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:11.23 and the 200 medley relay in 1:57.11, and finished second in the 200 breaststroke, in a Centennial Conference meet against Washington College.

Susanne Gingher (State College, James Madison) took first place in the 50 freestyle in 23.80 and second in the 100 freestyle in 52.49 in the Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet with Delaware, UNC-Wilmington and William and Mary.
