I hope other readers noted that Sundays CDT contained a report that the IRS is neither investigating complaints nor enforcing its regulations restricting political activity by churches and other untaxed religious organizations.
I hope your readers also noted that the same days newspaper contained a full-page photo of Billy Graham in an ad telling readers to vote for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel.
The ad appeared in many newspapers other than the CDT.
While I have no issues with people who live their biblical principles or support Israel, I have major issues with tax-exempt religious organizations using their tax-free resources to influence elections.
One only needs to look at Iran, Somalia, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and the Christian Crusades to understand the dangers of mixing religion, politics and government.
I pray that the IRS will put a stop to this very dangerous practice.
