13-year-old girl reported missing after running away from Philipsburg home

Published: November 9, 2012

State police in Clearfield are searching for a 13-year-old girl who walked away from her Philipsburg home and has been missing since.

Sydney Nicole Bowman was last seen by her family Saturday, when she ran away from her home on Scott Lane.

Nicole Woods, a family member, said on Thursday that the family is concerned for Bowman’s safety. Woods said the family thinks she might be staying with young adults and fears she could be exposed to drugs and alcohol.

“She is 13 years old,” Woods said. “She is our baby, and she’s making choices she shouldn’t be making.”

Police did not release additional information other than to say they are actively investigating the case. A trooper confirmed the barracks has received numerous calls but said no update was available late Thursday.

The girl’s family, meanwhile, has taken to Facebook to spread their message. They are also taking fliers to local businesses and going door-to-door looking for answers.

Woods said the family has offered a reward for anyone who provides information leading to Bowman being found.

She said they have received several tips, but so far none have panned out.

Anyone with information about the girl’s whereabouts can contact state police in Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
