Women’s ice hockey: Colonials drop Nittany Lions

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State could not get the puck past Robert Morris goaltender Delayne Brian in a 4-1 loss Sunday afternoon at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

Micayla Catanzariti scored the Nittany Lions’ lone goal in the third period, knocking in a rebound of the initial shots by Birdie Shaw and State College graduate Jill Holdcroft.

Dayna Newsom scored a shorthanded goal 1:55 into the game for the Colonials, Rebecca Vint and Cobina Delaney scored later in the first period and Jamie Joslin added an empty-net goal in the final seconds.

Brian finished with 19 saves while Nicole Paniccia made 49 saves for the Nittany Lions (4-7-1, 0-5-1 CHA).

Penn State next heads to Lindenwood in Missouri for a two-game series starting Friday night.
