Bald Eagle Area alum Steve Wiser passed a coaching milestone Saturday in Lycoming's 38-0 win over Misericordia.
In his 39th year at Lycoming, Wiser is the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the Warriors and has been part of 200 victories as a coach. He is only the second coach in Middle Atlantic Conference history to reach that mark.
Lycoming allowed only 69 yards of offense and held Misericordia to minus-15 yards rushing. It was the 65th shutout in Wiser’s coaching career. Lycoming is 8-2.
A 1970 graduate of BEA, Wiser was a four-year letterman at Lycoming before joining the coaching staff there.
Football
Terna Ityokumbul (State College, Bucknell) played against Georgetown Saturday but had no stats. Bucknell is 2-8.Shane Dorner (State College, Lafayette) has 10 solo tackles and 19 assists, 5 1/2 sacks/tackles for loss for minus 18 yards, two passes broken up and two passes defended. Lafayette is 5-5 and will meet Lehigh on Saturday in the 148th game between the two schools, the longest rivalry in NCAA history.
Coleman Rigg, (Bellefonte, Juniata) had two solo tackles and two receptions for 30 yards. Juniata finished the year at 3-7.
Colton Myers (State College, Juniata) had 15 catches for 184 yards.
Michael John (Philipsburg-Osceola, Juniata) had 17 carries for 49 yards, seven receptions for 106 yards, 25 kick returns for 465 yards and had two solo tackles and three assists.
Shay Ceglar (State College, Shippensburg) is the long snapper for Shippensburg.
Kurt Walker (P-O, Shippensburg) has three solo tackles and two assists, 1 1/2 tackles for for loss, a half sack , one interception for 80 yards and a touchdown and one quarterback hurry. Shippensburg is 10-1 after losing to Indiana, Pa., 41-10 Saturday.
Colby Way (State College, Buffalo) recovered a fumble late in the game against Western Michigan to preserve a 29-24 Buffalo win. For the year, Way has 25 solo tackles and 17 assists, 5 1/2 sacks for losses of 16 yards. Buffalo is 3-7.
Rob Irwin (Bellefonte, Clarion) finished the season with 13 catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Clarion finished 4-7.
Logan Belinda (State College, Westminster) in his final game at Westminster caught his first career touchdown pass. Belinda had a 62-yard TD reception against Geneva Saturday, giving him five catches for 108 yards this season. He also had two solo tackles. Westminster finished with a 3-6 record.
Ian Smith (State College, Kutztown) has nine solo tackles and six assists, one interception, one pass breakup, two passes defended and one quarterback hurry. Kutztown finished 6-4.
Bernard Smack (State College, Lock Haven) has 32 kick returns for 704 yards, two carries for 11 yards and 11 receptions for 44 yards.
Nick Boumerhi (P-O, Lock Haven) had a field goal and an extra point in Lock Haven’s 15-7 win over Cheney on Saturday as the Bald Eagles (1-10) snapped an NCAA Division II record 52-game losing streak.
Zach Czap (P-O, Lycoming) made the Middle Atlantic Conference honor roll for the second straight week after kicking a last-second field goal and five extra points Saturday in a 38-0 win against Misericordia. He also had three punts downed inside the 20. For the year, Czap has made 7 of 12 field goal attempts and 31 of 36 extra points for 52 points. He also averages 35.1 yards on 44 punts.
Sam Rodgers (State College, Syracuse) has two assisted tackles and is the long snapper for all kicks for the Orangemen, who upset undefeated Louisville Saturday, 45-26 to raise their record to 5-5.
Mike Horton (P-O, Edinboro) did not play in the season finale, a 47-21 loss against Kutztown which left the Scots with a 4-6 record.
Emmitt Terrel (State College, Cornell) has 10 solo tackles and 11 assists, one tackle for loss and one-half sack and one pass broken up. Cornell is 4-5.
Reid Vanderlinden (State College, Johns Hopkins) has one assisted tackle. Johns Hopkins is 9-1 and will meet W&J in a Div. III playoff game Saturday.
Jereme Murray (State College, Holy Cross) has 11 catches for 139 yards. Holy Cross is 1-9.
Garrett Nicholson (State College, Ithaca) made a field goal and an extra point in a 16-10 loss to Cortland Saturday. Ithaca is 6-4.
Soccer
David Trunzo (State College, St. Francis) had one assist for St. Francis, which lost to Farleigh-Dickinson in the Northeast Conference finals and finished with a 6-7-7 record.Izabel Scott (State College, Slippery Rock) starts on defense for Slippery Rock, which has advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 with a 14-5-3 record after beating California, Pa, 1-0.
Cory Neiderer (Penns Valley, PSU-Behrend) played in 13 games for Behrend, which finished with a 17-5 record and the second-most wins in school history.
Kathryn Ritter (P-O, Lancaster Bible College) had five goals and three assists for Lancaster Bible, which wrapped up its season with a record of 17-5.
Ella Matalavage (State College, Paul Smiths) saw her team finish with a 10-4-1 record. No statistics were available.
Volleyball
Lauren Hester (State College, Indiana, Pa.) had 207 kills, nine assists, 47 aces, 147 digs and 27 blocks. IUP closed at 20-15.Elizabeth Horner (State College, Penn) finished the season with 13 kills, nine assists, 15 aces, 74 digs and six blocks. Penn finished with a record of 13-12.
Alexandra Fleagle (State College, Slippery Rock) had 12 assists, four digs and an ace in the season finale as Slippery Rock finished with a record of 14-19.
Megan Flick (Bald Eagle Area, Lock Haven) is part of a Lock Haven team that has a record of 24-9.
Kendra Fetzer (BEA, Lock Haven) will be on the bench tonight when Lock Haven meets Millersville in a PSAC quarterfinal.
Field hockey
Brenna Boehman (State College, Haverford) has a goal and two assists. Haverford lost to F&M in the conference finals to finish 14-5.
Cross Country
Paul Crowe (State College, Lock Haven) was fifth among Susquehanna runners in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional with a time of 27:56.2John Crowe (State College, Lock Haven) was second among Susquehanna runners with a time of 27:01.5. Susquehanna finished 14th among 54 teams.
Swimming
Marie Ginger (State College, Gettysburg) swam on the winning 400 medley relay team (4:20.36) and placed second in the 50 freestyle in 26.33 and 100 freestyle in 57.02 in a meet against Bryn Mawr.Jenny Ryan (State College, Grove City) won the 1000 in 10:50.65 and the 500 in 5:19.78 and also swam on the winning 400 relay team (3:41.68) in a loss to Carnegie-Mellon.
Basketball
Emily Suhey (State College, Villanova) had one rebound against San Diego State and three points against Minnesota as Villanova went 1-1 in the Best Buy Classic over the weekend.Jena Matter (Bellefonte, Mansfield) had 14 points in an exhibition loss to Binghamton.
