Police seek information in downtown assault

From CDT staff reportsNovember 16, 2012

State College police are seeking information related to an assault that occurred at about 2 a.m. Friday.

The incident took place in the 100 block of East Beaver Ave., near the Centre Area Transportation Authority stop near Schlow Centre Region Library, and a victim was found to have head and facial injuries.

Police said the victim, who they did not identify, was initially taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center and later transferred to Altoona Regional Health System for further treatment of facial fractures and a head injury.

Police said their initial investigation showed that the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an unknown male. That man was described as white, between 20 and 30 years old, with dark, spiked hair and wearing a black jacket and jeans.

The fight then turned physical, and the victim was punched multiple times, fell to the ground, then was kicked in the head and face, police said. The suspect was reportedly accompanied by up to three other men, with one of them possibly involved in the assault.

The men were last seen leaving the area on South Allen Street.
