The State College football team will look to take its next postseason step Saturday afternoon when it meets McDowell in a PIAA Class AAAA subregional game.
The Little Lions and the Trojans, from Erie and the champions of District 10, will kick off at 1 p.m. at Slippery Rock University. McDowell (6-5), suffered four of its five losses at the hands of Ohio power programs and enters the game on a four-game win streak with an average score over those games of 55-8.
The Trojans beat Perry Traditional 61-14 last Friday, while State College dropped DuBois 35-13.
The teams met at this stage of the postseason in both 2008 and 2009, with State College winning both times to advance to the PIAA quarterfinals.
