Sheldon McClellan nailed four 3-pointers en route to 19 points on Wednesday, as the Texas Longhorns downed the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 69-55, in the seventh-place game of the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Julien Lewis followed with 15 points and Cameron Ridley donated eight points and 12 rebounds for the Longhorns (3-2), who had lost two straight.
Roquez Johnson led Mississippi State with 18 points, six boards and six steals, while Fred Thomas chipped in 10 points for the Bulldogs (1-4), who have lost three straight.
Mississippi State trailed by just one, 11-10, early in the contest, but the Longhorns ripped off nine straight points to build a double-digit advantage.
Texas pressed the margin to 38-20 heading into the locker room and led by double-digits throughout the second half en route to the victory.
The Longhorns shot 50 percent from the field and made 10-of-18 shots from 3- point range in the win.
