Borough reminds residents to clear sidewalks after snowfall

November 26, 2012

With the snow showers that were expected overnight and into this morning, State College staff reminded residents Monday that sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after snowfall has stopped.

Staff said it is especially important to clear corner ramps so that people have full access to sidewalks. Snow and ice must be removed from the entire length and width of sidewalks. Failure to do so will result in violations and costs to the property owner if the borough has to contract for the sidewalks to be cleared.

The full sidewalk ordinance is available online, at, under Borough Codes.
