Your Letters | Heed warning signs

Published: November 29, 2012

At this time of year, concussions from football and holiday travel are common and may require rehabilitation to reduce disability.

Health insurance generally covers cognitive rehabilitation therapy to restore memory, concentration and social skills.

Medical assistance provides help through occupational therapists and speech/language pathologists.

Awareness is the key.

Look for difficulty with reading, writing, math, new learning, concentration or remembering what just happened.

For information on recovery from a concussion, stroke or other injury to the brain, call 800-516-8052 or go to www.abin-pa.org.

No injury is too small to ignore or too great to lose hope.
