I recently was at a convenience store and witnessed the employee throwing away trays full of doughnuts. I was very saddened, very upset.
They were perfectly good. This happens way too often in the food industry and in homes across the country. I wonder how many of you have been hungry. Well, there are a lot of people out there who are hungry.
National Public Radio recently had a segment about the food industry and what we can do to stop this and what individuals can do to stop the waste.
Stop and think before you toss, or even before you buy. I urge the food-service industry to contact agencies that might take the food.
Compost and pig feed are also options. I have worked at a place that did this. Get creative!
Sheetz will donate to an agency, so please contact them if your agency can take the food.
Please let us all do our part to stop the waste and help feed the people.
