Pittsburgh man injured in Rush Township crash

A Pittsburgh man suffered serious injuries when his vehicle struck a tree early Sunday morning in Rush Township.

State Police in Philipsburg said Joseph Petrina, 37, was traveling west on Route 504 around 12:05 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve. His Mercedes-Benz left the roadway and struck a tree.

Petrina had to be pulled from the vehicle by firefighters from the Hope and Reliance fire companies in Philipsburg. He was taken to Altoona Regional Health System for treatment of what police called major injuries.
