UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State senior Matt Stankiewitch has been selected as one of six finalists for the Rimington Trophy honoring the nations top center.
Stankiewitch, the only returning starter on the offensive line, helped the Nittany Lions average 29.1 points per game this season. He was named a first-team all-conference selection by Big Ten coaches last week.
Alabamas Barrett Jones, Louisvilles Mario Benavides, Notre Dames Braxston Cave, Clemsons Dalton Freeman and Southern Californias Khaled Holmes are the other Rimington Trophy finalists. The award will be presented as part of ESPNUs Red Carpet Show on Thursday night in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Penn States A.Q. Shipley won the honor in 2008. The award is named for former Nebraska great Dave Rimington.
