Penn State basketball: Guard John Johnson leaving Pitt, joining Nittany Lions

Published: December 4, 2012

The Penn State men’s basketball team has officially announced the addition of sophomore guard John Johnson.

In November, Johnson informed Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon that he would transfer. The 6-foot-1 combination guard has not participated in any games for the Panthers this season.

Johnson, a Philadelphia native who played in all 39 games as a freshman, will not be eligible to play for the Nittany Lions until the completion of the 2013 fall semester per NCAA transfer rules.

Johnson will join Penn State after the completion of the fall 2012 semester. He averaged 4.2 points per game while shooting 38.4 percent (33-86) from three last season with Pittsburgh.
