Published: December 6, 2012

Tyreek Duren scored a game-high 29 points as the La Salle Explorers crushed the Penn State Nittany Lions, 82-57, in non- conference play at The Palestra.

Duren converted 9-of-13 shots from the floor, including 4-of-7 behind the three-point line for the Explorers (5-1) as they logged their fourth straight win. Also scoring in double figures for La Salle were Ramon Galloway and Sam Mills with 14 points apiece.

The Nittany Lions (4-4), losers of two of the last three, were paced by Jermaine Marshall with 19 points before fouling out, followed by D.J. Newbill and Ross Travis with 12 points each, the latter clearing a game-high nine rebounds as well.

PSU made good on an impressive 56.5 percent from the floor in the first half, but the Explorers converted 8-of-17 shots beyond the arc in the period in order to claim a 38-34 edge at the break.

In the second half La Salle not only continued to have the hot hand on the outside (8-of-14), the squad also limited the Lions to a mere nine made field goals, on the way to a comfortable 25-point win.

Penn State won the battle of the boards, 36-27, but the Explorers made up for that by turning the ball over just four times in the contest.
