The skinny: The Lady Rams will be pretty young this season, with only one senior among the 15 girls on the roster. … Penns Valley will look to turn around its fortunes from last season, when it averaged 41 points per game but also had turnover troubles. … Leading the returning girls is forward Kelsey Boone, who averaged 10.8 points and 10 rebounds a game. … The starting lineup may be a work in progress for a while as Coach Borland works with a number of possibilities. … In addition to Boone, post players include Tangie Lyons, Chelsea Emel and Courtney Ironside. … The guard rotation will include Ashley Struble, Megan Houser, Cheyenne Swartz and Karli Ripka. … The Lady Rams plan to be aggressive on defense and turn that work into transition points. … Penns Valley opened its season Friday and Saturday at Line Mountain’s Tipoff Tournament.

Coach Borland says: “We need to go out and put more points on the board. We can play with any team. … Our goal is to improve our record from last year. We’re focusing on turning that around. Our shooting has really improved, and we need to do our best to take care of the ball.”
