HARRISBURG — Bryan Sekunda hit a 12-foot jumper as the buzzer sounded to lift State College to a 63-61 victory over Central Dauphin in the Little Lions' Mid-Penn Conference debut Tuesday night.
State College called a timeout with 12 seconds left. Point guard Kyle Kanaskie dribbled, attracted attention from the Ram defense and flipped the ball to Sekunda.
State College trailed by nine points in the second half, but Jason Costa trimmed the lead to three by hitting consecutive 3-pointers. Costa finished with six 3-pointers to lead the Little Lions with 25 points. Kanaskie scored 21 points while Sekunda added 10.
“It was a good win for us, particularly on the road,” State College coach Drew Frank said. “They never panicked. They just focused on things that they can control, particularly in the second half, and they made plays.
Brian Laird led the Rams with 25 points.
State College (2-1) plays host to Central Dauphin East on Friday.
