MARTINSBURG — Penns Valley won every bout from 152 to 285 pounds as it opened the season with a 48-24 Mountain League victory at Central on Tuesday.
With the Rams trailing 24-12, Seth Decker started the second half of the meet with a 47-second pin at 152 pounds. Cole Confer (170), Mike Rogers (195), Maverick Swartz (220) and Mike Confer (285) added pins in the closing in the stretch. Isaac Bierly opened the meet wtih a pin at 106.
Corey Hazel added an 11-5 victory over Mike Mock at 160 and Jason Thoms hit a big roll to defeat Jared Ponder 9-6 at 182.
“I was very pleased with our intensity for the first match,” Penns Valley coach Joel Brinker said.
Philipsburg-Osceola visits Penns Valley on Thursday.
