TYRONE — A slow start hurt Bellefonte as it opened the season with a 60-29 loss to Tyrone on Wednesday.

“We came out and had some good opportunities, but we couldn’t make any shots,” Bellefonte coach Roger Herto said.

Bellefonte failed to score in the first quarter before notching 10 points in the second.

Cassandra Book led Bellefonte, with seven points. Mara Tamminga and Alexis Franks chipped in six each for the Lady Red Raiders.

“We still have a very long way to go,” Herto said. “We played hard, but we were outmanned in the end.”
