Woman hurt in collision after pulling out in front of truck on Benner Pike

Published: December 15, 2012

A woman was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center after a truck collided with her Toyota on Friday afternoon, State College police said.

At 2:23 p.m., Elaine Weiner was attempting to turn left out of the Metzger Animal Hospital, 1044 Benner Pike, and pulled out in front of a Freightliner truck, police said. The truck struck the rear door of the Toyota and Weiner’s car spun counterclockwise before coming to a stop.

Police said Weiner told them she was blinded by the sun and couldn’t see the truck. She will be cited for pulling out in front of another vehicle, police said.

Her injuries were not life-threatening, police said. She complained of head and neck pain at the scene. The hospital did not have a record of her as a current patient Saturday.
