Penn State hockey: Robert Morris skates past Nittany Lions

— Robert Morris scored two third-period goals 1:22 apart in the third period to sneak away with a 3-2 win over the Penn State men’s ice hockey team Saturday night.

Jeff Jones and Tyler Hinds netted the Colonial goals midway through the third period in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,300 at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

Tommy Olczyk and Curtis Loik netted goals for Penn State (7-8) in the second period as the Nittany Lions skated into the third with a 2-1 lead. Luke Juha and David Glen picked up the assists.

Chase Golightly scored in the first period for Robert Morris (7-4-2).

Penn State held a 40-29 advantage in shots on goal, with goalie Matthew Skoff making 26 saves in the loss. Eric Levine made 38 saves for Robert Morris.

The teams will meet again Dec. 28 at Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center for the Three Rivers Classic as the Nittany Lions take a break for final exams and the holidays.
