PHILIPSBURG — Bellefonte held off Philipsburg-Osceolas last-minute comeback attempts to earn its first boys basketball win of the season 66-63 Tuesday night.
The Red Raiders held a six-point lead, but a few missed free throws opened the door, and missing the front end of a one-and-bonus opportunity with 4.8 seconds left set up a final attempt for the Mounties, but Taylor Golemboskis 3-pointer from the corner, with a hand in his face, was off the mark to close the night.
Evan Wians 22 points paced Bellefonte (1-3).
He was all over the place tonight, Raider coach Darin Hazel said. He had a big game for us.
Dylan Moerschbacher added 15 points, Kahsim Buey had 11 points and six steals and Andy Stover collected six assists.
Eric Nartatezs 26 points led P-O (0-4) while Matt Carpin added 17 points and five steals, Alex Gray netted 10 points and Golemboski finished with nine rebounds and five blocked shots.
