Ice skating is a holiday tradition, and local skaters can find indoor ice at the Penn State Ice Pavilion at least for the rest of this school year.
Beginning in 2013-14, all activities will shift to the Pegula Ice Arena, now under construction. At that time, the ice pavilion will be decommissioned, according to rink manager Chris Whittemore.
Despite a busy ice schedule with Penn State now playing both womens and mens Division I hockey, the pavilion offers public skating times and skate rentals.
Were still doing here what well be doing in the new building, Whittemore said. We want people to come in and enjoy our public skating sessions and our group lessons.
Heres the ice pavilion public skating schedule for the rest of 2012:
• 8-10 p.m. Dec. 21-22
• 1-3 p.m. Dec. 22-23
• 1-4 p.m. Dec. 24
• 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Dec. 26
