Published: December 30, 2012

— The Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling team used its balance to win Saturday’s Brockway Big Dog Tournament.

The Mounties’ 13 entries went a combined 34-21 in the six-team round robin event. P-O collected 22 points. District 9 Port Allegany finished second with 20 points.

Juniors Chris Thompson and Bub Lumadue went undefeated to lead the Mounties. Thompson went 3-0 with two falls at 106 pounds. Lumadue went 5-0 with three falls at 182.

Bryan Descavish (2-1, 120), Dallas Kephart (4-1, 132), Caleb Shively (3-1, 138), Andrew Greenawalt (4-1, 152), Jay Prentice (4-1, 170) and Nick Gray (4-1, 220) lost just once.

The tournament was supposed to be a double-elimination event. But Cameron County and Jamestown (N.Y.) couldn’t make it to Brockway because of poor weather, forcing organizers to alter the format.
