UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State mens volleyball team will open its next season ranked eighth in the nation in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason coaches poll.
The Nittany Lions, who were 23-6 last season and 14-0 to win the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association title, open their season Jan. 10-12 at the Outrigger Invitational at Hawaii. Penn State will face No. 6 UCLA, the host Wahini and No. 11 Ohio State to begin the campaign, which will feature six teams ranked in the preseason poll.
The home opener is Jan. 18 against No. 5 Lewis.
Penn State, which has six starters and 10 letterwinners returning this season, has been to the national championship semifinals each of the last 14 seasons.
