Alex Hamilton scored 20 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs recorded an 81-72 win over the New Mexico State Aggies in Western Athletic Conference action at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Also scoring in double digits for the Bulldogs (11-3, 2-0 WAC) were Brandon Gibson with 15 points, Kenyon McNeail 14 and Cordarius Johnson 10 points as the trio combined to shoot 11-of-16 from 3-point range in the team's third straight win.
The Aggies (6-8, 0-2) were paced by Daniel Mullings with a game-high 21 points, followed by Tyrone Watson and Terrel de Rouen with 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the squad suffered a second straight loss and the fourth in five games.
Both teams shot just under 49 percent from the floor in the first half, but while NMSU came up empty on four chances beyond the arc in the period, the Bulldogs made good on 7-of-13 in order to take a 49-39 lead at the break.
In the second half the Aggies again struggled on the perimeter (1-of-8), compared to LaTech which converted 4-of-9 on the outside in order to capture the nine-point home win.
In addition to turning the ball over 14 times, leading to 21 points for the hosts, NMSU also shot just 23-of-37 (.622) at the free-throw line.
