A pair of State College Area High School graduates are leading their Juniata College basketball teams in scoring this season.
Brian Scholly is averaging 15.3 points per game for the Eagles, who are 8-5 after a 62-54 loss to Scranton to open their Landmark Conference season. The junior forward, who had a game-high 16 points in the loss, also averages 1.5 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.6 blocks and 4.6 rebounds.
Meanwhile Kate McDonald leads the Juniata women with a 13.2 scoring average and 10.0 rebounds per game. She also averages 2.5 assists. The Eagles are 10-3 after a 65-61 overtime win over Scranton to begin conference play, with the junior forward scoring four points and grabbing a team-leading eight rebounds.
Wrestling
Mitchell Port (Bellefonte, Edinboro) is 17-3 and placed fifth at the Midlands Tournament, as did teammate and Tyrone grad AJ Schopp.
Steve Bosak (State College, Cornell) is 6-1 since returning to the lineup after battling a staph infection.
Scott Bosak (State College, Cornell) is 10-5.
Basketball
Tyann McDaniel (Bellefonte, Misericordia) has 25 rebounds, 29 assists, one block, 21 steals and a 9.4 scoring average. Misericordia is 6-4.
Emily Suhey (State College, Villanova) has 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a 1.6 scoring average off the bench. Villanova is off to an 11-2 start.
Liz Wortman (Bellefonte, Juniata) has a 1.0 scoring average and averages 0.6 rebounds, 0.2 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.4 blocks
Jena Matter (Bellefonte, Mansfield) has 84 rebounds, 23 assists, eight blocks, nine steals, and a 10.5 scoring average. Mansfield is 3-8.
Mitch Moyer (BEA, PSU-Altoona) has 15 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a 4.6 scoring average. Penn State-Altoona is 4-7.
Alidia Strouse (State College, PSU-Altoona) has 73 rebounds, seven assists, four blocks, 18 steals and a 7.8 scoring averages. PSU-Altoona is 0-13.
Pat St. Andrews (State College, PSU-Behrend) has a 5.0 scoring average and also averages 2.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks. Behrend is 9-4.
Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) has 46 rebounds, 24 assists, 24 steals and a 5.6 scoring average.
