DUBOIS — Brianna Rusnak buried a pair of key 3-pointers an infrequent occurrance for the post player to help Philipsburg-Osceola pull away from DuBois Central Catholic on Monday night 37-33.
With the game knotted 21-21 in the third quarter, the senior forward drilled her back-to-back 3-pointers as the Lady Mounties lead eventually grew to 31-21 after trailing 21-19 at halftime.
They were big, P-O coach Doug Myers said. She has that in her game but we dont use it a lot. The girl who was covering her was not coming out (on the perimeter), so they were wide open looks.
Rusnak finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Abby Showers added 13 points.
We got cold in the second quarter, Myers said. I told the girls at halftime, We have to keep working the ball, get better shots. We started drving to the bucket and getting the easier shots.
Kylee Schaffers 14 points and Gabby Ridenours 10 paced the Cardinals (4-7).
The Lady Mounties (4-6) travel to Huntingdon on Friday.
