CANONSBURG — State Colleges Stefan Horgas collected a hat trick in the first period and finished with four goals, and Jared Karas also had a hat trick to power the Little Lions to a 7-3 win over Canon-McMillan on Thursday night.
Horgas opened the game with three goals with assists coming from Robby Waite, Sey Yeaple and Dalton Bown, while Karas ended the first-period scoring at 6:53 with his first goal off assists from Adam Warfield and Luc Michaels to give the Little Lions (5-6-0) a 4-0 lead.
Karas opened the second period with an unassisted goal at 16:14, while Horgas scored his fourth of the game, unassisted, seven minutes later. With the Little Lions ahead 6-3 late in the game, Karas grabbed his hat trick with 1:15 left on an empty-net goal.
Zach Woytowich made 24 saves for the Little Lions.
