Indoor track and field: State College sweeps multiple races at home invitational

— The State College girls’ indoor track and field team swept the 60- and 200-meter dashes in Thursday’s State College Invitational at Penn State.

Lauren Bonness led State College in both events, winning the 60 in 7.9 and 200 in 26.3. State College also swept the 800, with Emma Cousins winning the event in 2:25.3. Cousins added a victory in the mile.

State College’s Kate Nese (pole vault) and Penns Valley’s Chelsea Emel (shot put) won the field events.

State College’s Will Cather was a double-winner in the boys’ meet, capturing the 800 in 1:59.7 and mile in 4:29.0. Ebrahim Britton (200) and Matt Mullin (shot put) also won events for State College.

St. Joseph’s Academy’s Stephen Forstmeier won the 3000 in 10:07.9.
