MILL HALL — Central Mountain won three bouts decided by two points or fewer as it defeated Bald Eagle Area 37-21 on Saturday night.
The Wildcats earned two close decisions in the first four bouts. Devin Stacey opened the meet by defeating Ben Verbitskey 4-3 at 170 pounds. Blaze Buckwalter then edged Nate Sharkey 5-4 in a 220-pound involving returning PIAA qualifiers.
Central Mountain’s Gavin Caprio ended the meet with a 3-1 victory over Tyler Baney at 160. Chase Andrus (126) and Jacob Watt (138) also won by decision for the Wildcats.
BEA (4-2) received three decision victories. Aaron Varner bumped up from 195 to handle Caleb Stover 5-2 at 285, Cobey Bainey defeated Ryan Moore 5-1 at 106 and Joe Powers earned a 4-2 overtime victory over Zach Knepp at 145.
Jake Taylor (195) and Travis Giedroc (113) had falls for the Eagles. Keanan Bottorf (120) and Chad Reese (152) had pins for the Wildcats, who improved to 8-1.
