HONOLULU — Penn State finished off its trip to Hawaii with a sweep of No. 10 Ohio State 26-24, 25-17, 25-22 at the Outrigger Invitational.
The No. 7 Nittany Lions return home with a 2-1 record at the tournament, also beating the host Warriors 3-2 and falling to No. 5 UCLA in five sets.
Aaron Russells 13 kills on .391 hitting led the Nittany Lions while Peter Russell added 12 kills and Tom Comfort had 10 kills and four blocks. Nick Turko served up three aces, Taylor Hammond gave out 41 assists and Connor Curry picked up 11 digs.
Penn State hit .292 with a 44-34 advantage in kills, a 7-3 edge in aces and a 33-31 margin in digs. The Buckeyes hit .196 and won the blocking battle 9-5.
The Nittany Lions will host No. 13 Lewis on Friday in the Rec Hall opener to begin an eight-match homestand.
