Penn State football: Defensive end Pete Massaro chosen for all-star game

— Penn State defensive end Pete Massaro will join a pair of teammates this weekend at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in California.

Massaro, who is the eighth Nittany Lion selected to participate in an all-star bowl game this month, will be on the field with defensive end Sean Stanley and running back Michael Zordich for the game at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The contest will kick off at 6 p.m. and eb shown on ESPN2.

Massaro, a two-time Academic All-American, made eight tackles, one for a loss and a half-sack while missing three games with an injury in helping the Nittany Lion football team to an 8-4 record.

Also on Saturday, linebacker Gerald Hodges and center Matt Stankiewitch will participate in the East-West Shrine Game, while defensive tackle Jordan Hill will play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26 and quarterback Matt MCGloin wil play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Challenge on Feb. 2. Tackle Mike Farrell participated in the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game last Friday.
