Penn State soccer: Lions’ Walsh named women’s coach of year

— More honors have rolled in for the Penn State women’s soccer team, with Erica Walsh named Soccer America National Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

She was joined in the list of honorees by Christine Nairn and Maya Hayes, who were named to the Soccer America All-America list, while Raquel Rodriguez and Mallory Weber were named to the All-Freshman team.

Walsh, who also was the Big Ten’s Coach of the Year, guided the team to its 15th straight conference title, its second straight 20-win season and its first appearance in the College Cup championship game.
