Published: January 16, 2013

— Central Mountain’s Cole Renninger and Tyler Everhart combined for 47 points as the Wildcats handed Bald Eagle Area its first loss of the season 59-52 on Tuesday.

BEA (11-1) raced to a 20-13 lead, but Central Mountain rallied to tie the game at 24-24 entering halftime. The Eagles took an early eight-point lead in the third quarter, but the Wildcats closed the period with an 18-3 run to take the lead for good.

BEA could get no closer than six points in the final period.

“It was a physical game,” BEA coach Bill Butterworth said. “We’re still having a great season. We lost to a great team and a well-coached team. The kids handled it well. This will definitely make us a better team.”

Dennis Fisher had a double-double for the Eagles with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Bryce Greene added 13.

Even though he was 6 of 19 from the foul line, Renninger led the Wildcats (6-5) with 27 points. Everhart nailed four 3-pointers in a 20-point effort.

BEA visits Bellefonte on Friday.
