Letter to the editor | Put abortion to a vote

January 18, 2013

On Tuesday, Roe v. Wade will have been in effect for 40 years.

In 1973, the Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision signed into law women’s right to abortion. Since 1973 through the end of 2011, 54.6 million babies have been aborted in the United States — more than 55 million to date. Less than 1 percent were for medical emergencies.

In 2011, 1.2 million babies were aborted in the U.S. That's one every 26 seconds, 137 every hour, about 3,300 a day and about 23,000 every week. You can't make these numbers up, because they are facts.

What a sinful nation in which we live to create the slaughtering of the unborn child. This nation was founded on God and the right to life.

Whatever happened to the country of God? The Bible teaches that when judgment does come, it will not only be for individuals, but nations also.

Nine Justices deciding for millions of people what is good and righteous for them. If you want democracy, let’s have a referendum on a ballot in the next national general election and let the people decide with a yes-or-no vote.

The legal massive killing of the unborn in the U.S. has become this nation’s holocaust for the past 40 years.
