Utility tree trimming work postponed

Published: January 19, 2013

Tree trimming along a West Penn Power transmission line that stretches from Shingletown to Milesburg has been postponed, likely until spring.

The electric company planned this week to use an aerial saw to trim trees along the line, but spokesman Tom Kearney said Friday the cold and snowy weather has delayed the work. He said it will take place when the weather gets better.

The saw involves a line of 10 to 15 round blades that hang from a helicopter and allows crews to trim quickly in areas that are difficult to reach by climbing or using a bucket truck.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact the company’s call center at 800-686-0021.
