STATE COLLEGE Jason Costas hot shooting led the State College boys basketball team to a comfortable Mid-Penn victory Friday.
The senior scored 11 points in the first quarter, added six more in the second and finished with a game-high 24 as the Little Lions defeated Carlisle 70-57 on Friday at the North Gym.
Costa was one of three Little Lions to finish in double figures. Kyle Kanaskie scored 14 points and Bryan Sekunda went 7 of 8 from the foul line to add 10.
The Little Lions (12-3) opened a 32-20 halftime lead by holding the Thundering Herd (8-7) to eight points in the second quarter.
J.D. Hughes led Carlisle with 16 points. Josh Clippinger added 13.
State College improved to 9-1 in Mid-Penn play with the victory. The Little Lions trail Harrisburg by one game in the Commonwealth Division.
State College visits Chambersburg on Tuesday.
