Recap: Purdue vs. West Virginia

D.J. Byrd scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures as the Purdue Boilermakers took down the West Virginia Mountaineers, 79-52, in a non-conference affair at Mackey Arena.

Rapheal Davis added 16 points, Anthony Johnson had 12 off the bench and Terone Johnson chipped in 11 for Purdue (10-8) which has won three straight.

Eron Harris was the only player for West Virginia (8-9) in double figures with 10 points. The Mountaineers have lost four of their last five.

The Boilermakers got out to a 37-23 lead at halftime by shooting 45.5 percent, including a 3-of-5 showing from beyond the arc, while holding West Virginia to just 28.6 percent shooting in the first period.

The second half was more of the same as Purdue netted 53.8 percent of its field goal attempts including a 5-of-6 effort from 3-point range to cruise to the win.

Purdue forced 17 turnovers which the Boilermakers traded in for 22 points.
