Port Matilda man charged with sex crimes

From CDT staff reportsJanuary 19, 2013

A Port Matilda man is accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl between November 2011 and February 2012.

State police at Philipsburg say Barry L. Gummo, 64, would have the girl undress and join him in a hot tub, where he was also naked.

The girl would slide down Gummo’s chest into the water and on some occasions would come into contact with his genital area, police said.

Police said Gummo also would remove the girl’s clothing and scratch her backside and rub sex toys over her while she was lying down.

He was charged with three counts of indecent assault and two counts of corruption of minors.

Gummo was arraigned by District Judge Allen Sinclair and released on $250,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
