Track & field: State College relay team earns win

— State College’s girls’ 4x800-meter relay team raced to a win at the Kevin Dare Invitational at the Multisport Facility on Saturday.

The foursome of Hannah Grubb, Natasha Fedkina, Kaelyn Yoder and Emma Cousins raced to a winning time of 9 minutes, 38.59 seconds in their win.

State College also produced a pair of runner-up finishers in Grubb and Matthew Mullin. Grubb was runner-up in the mile in 5:14.82, while Mullin led the boys with a top toss of 50 feet, 1 1/2 inches in the shot put. Evan Galemberti was sixth in the shot put.

The Little Lion boys also ran well in the 4x800 relay with Chris Golembeski, Kyle Sutherland, Kyle Adams and Will Cather placing third in 8:13.68.

In other finishes for the boys, Cather took fourth in the mile, Kellin Valentina and Sean King were fourth and eight, respectively, in the triple jump and the the team of Mason Post, Seamus Wagner, Golembeski and Cather took fifth in the 4x400 relay.

For the girls, Penns Valley’s Grace Gover cleared 5-2 and took fourth in the high jump and added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump.

Also for the Lady Little Lions, Cousins was sixth in the 800, Haley Crawford was sixth in the 200, Lauren Bonness placed seventh in the 60-meter dash, Kate Nese was seventh in the pole vault, Najla Robinson was eighth in the triple jump and Fedkina was 10th in the 800. Also, the 4x200 relay team of Rene Olivett, Niara Valentine, Monya Valentine and Chandley Book took ninth.
