Philipsburg altercation under review

Published: January 23, 2013

— An altercation between two Philipsburg employees got physical and involved police and emergency medical personnel Thursday.

Borough Manager Jan McDonald said he called 911 about the incident at the borough garage at about 3 p.m. He said he could not comment much on the situation as it’s a personnel matter and he is still awaiting a police report.

According to state police at Philipsburg, two male employees are facing summary charges of harassment as a result.

McDonald said discipline will depend on the police findings and will be handled by the Borough Council. The council met Monday and discussed the matter in executive session.

During the open session, council members were addressed by at least one employee, although most garage employees did attend the meeting. No action was taken at that meeting, but McDonald said he anticipates a special meeting to deal with the situation rather than waiting until February.
