UNIVERSITY PARK — A scintilating night of hitting helped the Penn State mens volleyball team to a sweep of Loyola-Chicago on Tuesday night in Rec Hall.
The No. 6 Nittany Lions (4-1) hit .494 as a team and four players hit over .500 in a 27-25, 25-16, 25-19 victory.
Peter Russell and Tom Comfort each put down 10 kills on error-free nights, with Russell hitting .667 and Comfort notching a .556.
Aaron Russell added eight kills, and in the middle Nick Turko hit .667 on seven kills and Matt Seifert had six kills on a .556 night.
Turko and Comfort led with five and four blocks, respectively, as Penn State held a 7-3 blocking advantage. Peter Russell also had seven digs and three aces, and Taylor Hammond gave out 36 assists.
Joseph Smalzers 11 kills and Dainis Berzins 10 kills led Loyola (4-4), which hit .262.
The Nittany Lions host Sacred Heart on Friday.
