SPRING MILLS Penns Valleys inability to win close bouts resulted in a 31-27 loss to Huntingdon in a key Class AA dual meet Tuesday at the Ram Dome.
The Bearcats won six bouts, including the final two, by decision to hand the Rams their second loss.
Huntingdon junior Matt Wilson ended the meet with a 4-2 victory over Curtis Decker at 120 pounds. One bout earlier, Huntingdons Jacob Dubbs defeated Kolton Confer 9-2 at 113.
The Bearcats also opened the meet with a decision victory as Devon Green defeated Jacob Confer 3-0 at 126. Huntingdons other decision victories included John Wagners 9-3 win over Dalton Zerbe at 138, Logan Fishers 1-0 triumph over Cole Confer at 152 and Matt Norris 9-5 win over Drew Hurd at 170.
Penns Valleys lone decision victory came at 145, where Seth Decker handled Eric Lynn 8-2. The Rams produced bonus points in their other four victories, with Corey Hazel (160), Michael Rogers (182), Maverick Swartz (220) and Michael Confer (285) pinning their opponents.
Nathan Russell (132) had the Bearcats lone pin. Freshman 106-pounder Collin Glorioso won by technical fall at 106.
Both teams entered Tuesday in the top five of the District 6 Class AA team standings. Penns Valley (16-2) occupied the top spot. Huntingdon (9-2) was in the fifth spot.
The Rams have another huge meet Thursday at West Branch. The Warriors (19-2) entered Tuesday second in the points standings.
