UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn States Alex Bentley and Maggie Lucas were two of 20 players named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason list, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Tuesday.
The Lady Lions are one of six programs with multiple candidates named to the list, and are joined by Ohio States Taylor Hill as the only representatives from the Big Ten.
Bentley is second in the nation in steals per game (4.2) and 10th on the Lady Lions all-time scoring list with 1,555 career points. She also was the Preseason Big Ten Co-Player of the Year.
Lucas, an honorable mention All-American last season, leads the nation in 3-point shooting success at 53.1 percent, and is third in the conference and 20th in the nation averaging 19.8 points per game.
The Wooden Award All-America Team will be announced during the NCAA Tournament, and the award will be given out April 12 in Los Angeles.
