HOLLIDAYSBURG — Bald Eagle Area raced out to a big lead in a 42-25 victory over Hollidaysburg on Thursday.
BEA sophomore Mitchell Taylor received a forfeit at 160 before Ben Verbitskey pinned Ian Bilofsky in the first period. Jake Taylor (182), Aaron Varner (195) and David Gawryla (220) added first-period falls, giving the Eagles a 30-0 advantage after five bouts.
Cobey Bainey and Clint McCaslin earned decision victories later in the meet. Bainey defeated Darren Bowser 4-1 at 106 and McCaslin edged Colton Walls 6-4 at 132. Joe Powers received a forfeit victory at 138.
Hollidaysburgs Matt Barton earned a big victory at 285 by pinning Nate Sharkey in 43 seconds. Sharkey, a state qualifier last season, moved up from 220 pounds to face Barton, a returning regional qualifier.
BEA (7-2) visits Shikellamy on Saturday.
