Penn State volleyball: Nittany Lions roll over Sacred Heart

— With a balanced offense, the Penn State men’s volleyball team overpowered Sacred Heart 25-12, 25-18, 25-23 Friday night at Rec Hall.

Aaron Russell and Tom Comfort led the No. 6 Nittany Lions (5-1) with seven kills each while playing just two sets. In all, Penn State got kills from 10 different players while hitting .313 and holding a 35-24 advantage in kills and an 8.5-4 margin in blocks. The Pioneers (0-4) were held to .060 hitting in the EIVA conference opener for both teams.

Peter Russell and Nick Turko each had three blocks, Matt Seifert delivered three of the team’s four aces, Aaron Russell also had five digs and Taylor Hammond contributed 31 assists.

With a gymnastics meet in the main gym, Penn State is back in action at 4 p.m. Saturday against Harvard in Rec Hall's South Gym.
