Women's ice hockey: Orange put squeeze on Lions

Published: January 26, 2013

— Goalie Nicole Paniccia had a busy night, turning aside 45 shots, but Penn State could not break through at the other end of the ice in a 1-0 loss to Syracuse on Friday night.

Nicole Renault netted the lone goal early in the first period, knocking home a rebound for the Orange (13-11-1, 7-3-1), who are in second place in the CHA.

Syracuse held the puck for most of the night in the Tennity Ice Pavilion, outshooting the Nittany Lions 46-13. Kallie Billadeau stopped all the shots she faced.

Syracuse won 4-0 and 6-0 when the teams met in October at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

The teams meet one more time, at 2 p.m. Saturday.
