A State College man was found guilty of endangering the welfare of a child by a Centre County jury on Friday.

The Centre County District Attorney’s office said John Sherlock put his six-month old child in danger during a domestic dispute with the child’s mother in January 2012.

Sherlock and the woman were in a vehicle with the child and were arguing when when Sherlock grabbed the woman, interfering with her ability to drive and tried to take the keys out of the ignition, prosecutors said. The woman was able to safely pull over. She took the child and got a ride from a passerby.

Sherlock was convicted of endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person. He was acquitted on charges of simple assault and harassment.
