Thanks to a pair of victories by Jenny Ryan, the Grove City women’s swim team swept a pair of meets from Allegheny and Wooster over the weekend.

Ryan, a State College graduate, won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:44.71 and then won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:53.05. She was one of three Grove City swimmers to post a pair of wins.

Grove City is now 7-3.

Wrestling

Mitchell Port (Bellefonte, Edinboro) beat Bloomsburg’s Matt Rappo, 11-4 in a 19-18 criteria loss to the Huskies. Port is ranked fifth in the country at 141 and has a 24-3 record. Edinboro is 8-4.

Steve Bosak (State College, Cornell) pinned his Oregon State opponent to give Cornell a 20-14 lead with two bouts to go, but the Beavers won the final two to win the dual 23-20. Bosak, the national champion at 184 pounds last season, is 10-2.

Erik Galloway (State College, Buffalo) decisioned Kagan Squire 8-2 in the Bulls’ 26-13 loss to Ohio University. Buffalo is 1-8.

Leo Wortman (Bellefonte, Stevens, N.J.) is 8-7 at 157 pounds as a freshman. Stevens improved to 6-4 by defeating McDaniel 23-19 and Muhlenberg 43-6 last weekend.

Basketball

Tyann McDaniel (Bellefonte, Misericordia) averages 10.7 points and has 37 rebounds, 50 assists, one block and 26 steals. Misericordia is 8-7.

Emily Suhey (State College, Villanova) averages 1.6 points per game to go with three assists, two steals and 10 rebounds. Villanova is 16-3.

Brian Scholly (State College, Juniata) averages 16.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists. 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks. Juniata is 13-6.

Kate McDonald (State College, Juniata) averages 13.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.2 blocks. Juniata is 14-5.

Liz Wortman (Bellefonte, Juniata) averages 0.8 points, 0.3 assists and 0.1 steals.

Jena Matter (Bellefonte, Mansfield) has a 10.8 scoring average, 23 steals, 11 blocks, 118 rebounds and 34 assists. Mansfield is 4-13.

Mitch Moyer (Bald Eagle Area, PSU-Altoona) has 33 rebounds, 17 assists, eight steals and a 5.7 scoring average. Altoona is 7-12.

Alidia Strouse (State College, PSU-Altoona) has 111 rebounds, 19 assists, six blocks, 27 steals and a 7.6 scoring averages. Altoona is 2-18.

Pat. St. Andrews (State College, PSU-Behrend) has a 5.5 scoring average to go with 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Behrend is 13-6.

Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) averages 5.7 points per game. She also has 34 steals, 34 assists and 72 rebounds. Greensburg is 9-11.

Madison Basstress (Penns Valley, Washington & Jefferson) has played in two games and has three rebounds, two assists and a 2.0 scoring average. W&J is 13-6.
